Crews are patrolling areas looking for spot fires within the contingency lines; steep slopes and rugged terrain are making access difficult. Interior portions of the fire will continue to be consumed and smoke may be visible for an extended period of time in the Ukiah Valley, which may create possible health issues. Fire resources will continue suppression repair efforts throughout the fire area. Resources continue to be released from the fire to other incidents or back to their home units. CAL FIRE and Cooperating Agencies would like to thank the entire community and local businesses for their overwhelming support and hospitality. Community meetings are scheduled for today at Leggett school at 12:00 PM and again at Harwood Hall in Laytonville at 2:00 PM.

A wildfire burning in Mendocino County Friday afternoon overran firefighters, seriously injuring eight and prompting Calfire to issue evacuations for nearby areas. CalFire spokesman Bill Murphy said the firefighters' injuries were serious but not life threatening. All of the injured were transferred to burn stations at a hospital nearby, he said. The Lodge Complex Fire grew by nearly 2,000 acres Friday, when hot and windy weather helped propel it toward nearby homes.

The fire continues to burn in heavy timber. Firefighters are challenged by steep, rugged terrain with difficult access. Fire activity increased yesterday as the eastern flank of the fire pushed to the south. The fire crossed the Eel River in two areas and continues to grow to the east. Structure defense preparation continues near populated areas and firefighting personnel continue to make progress constructing fire line across the northern and southern boundaries of the fire.
