As the work continues toward containment, many areas with smoldering vegetation near the line have been located and extinguished. These “smokers” may continue to appear since they often burn root systems and then surface. The number of Firefighters on the line has been reduced as progress is made. Full control is expected Tuesday. High winds are expected later in the week. As control of the fire approaches, the fire area will remain in “patrol status” by a small contingent of firefighters.

Firefighters are making good progress as they work to contain the Solimar Fire. As the work continues firefighters are locating smoldering vegetation near the line and extinguishing it before it can spread to the unburned brush. Crews are closer to completing the containment line around the fire. Full control is expected Tuesday. High winds from the north early this morning pushed embers into unburned vegetation causing a spot fire that was quickly extinguished.
