(This incident will only be updated in the event of significant change in fire behavior or acreage.)The lightning-caused Buck Lake fire was detected August 2, 2017, in the Buck Lake Creek drainage in the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness at 5 to 10 acres. Showing only minimal to moderate activity, the fire is now estimated at 4,655 acres as of September 14, 2017. This incident is being managed for long-term resource benefits and is being patrolled and monitored as it continues to perform its natural role across the landscape.
